Maxwell Woods rushed for 34 yards on seven carries during Washington State University's first fall football scrimmage on August 16 at Gesa Field, with coach Kirby Moore praising his work ethic.
Woods, a sophomore, took over for injured teammate Kirby Vorhees, who is expected back next week. Moore noted Woods arrives at 6:30 a.m. for extra workouts, saying he 'does more than what's expected.' The offense featured rotational reps for three starting quarterback candidates.
The scrimmage was the first of two planned fall practices. WSU's next scrimmage is scheduled for August 23, with the regular season opening September 9 against New England.
