Missing swimmer search continues in Clearwater River

🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

A search is continuing for Joseph Wren, a man who disappeared while swimming in the Clearwater River near Lenore rest stop on U. S. Highway 12. Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office reported Wren, identified as a Peck resident, went under the water without a lifejacket and was not seen after calling for help around 3 p.m. Saturday.

Witnesses said Wren was unable to hold onto logs provided to help him stay afloat as he drifted into swift currents. First responders were called after beachgoers saw him swimming alone and then heard him call for help. The sheriff's office stated Wren remains missing with search and recovery efforts ongoing.
