WSU head coach Kirby Moore will lead the Cougars in their first Apple Cup as members of the Pac-12 Conference, facing the University of Washington Huskies on Sunday, September 6, 2026. The game, scheduled for 1 p.m. on NBC, marks Moore's debut as a collegiate head coach and UW's Jedd Fisch's third Apple Cup appearance.

The Cougars enter the matchup as 23. 5-point underdogs against the Big Ten Huskies, who hold a 1-1 record in the series under Fisch. Moore stated on his weekly radio show, 'We're going to give it all we've got,' focusing on 'this play' rather than the stakes. The Apple Cup will be the only game televised that Sunday, with NBC airing it alongside Wisconsin-Notre Dame later in the evening.
