Pinnick named WSU starting QB, aims for Pac-12 title

🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

Washington State University named Caden Pinnick as starting quarterback on Monday, following his 15-practice fall camp starting Aug. 6. Pinnick, a sophomore and last year's Big Sky Freshman of the Year, said his goal is to beat the University of Washington and win a Pac-12 championship. First-year coach Kirby Moore praised Pinnick's work ethic, noting he was in the academic center early Monday. The Apple Cup against Washington is set for Sept. 6 at 1 p.m. in Seattle. Other local athletes made notable plays in NFL preseason: Jaden Hicks forced a fumble against Tampa Bay, Abraham Lucas did not play for the Seahawks, Daiyan Henley recorded one tackle for the Chargers, and Gardner Minshew completed 19-of-23 passes for the Cardinals.
