The Seattle Seahawks announced that Drew Lock will start at quarterback for Sunday's game against Arizona after Sam Darnold suffered a glute injury. Darnold, who was sacked by Dre'Mont Jones in last week's game against the New England Patriots, will not be placed on injured reserve. Lock replaced Darnold in that game, completing 16-of-22 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown as the Seahawks won 13-10.
Coach Mike Macdonald praised Lock as a 'proven really good player' and 'a heck of a teammate,' while defensive tackle Leonard Williams stated the team has 'faith in Drew because we believe that he’s the best second-string quarterback in the league.' Darnold led the Seahawks to a Super Bowl title last season, throwing for 4,048 yards with 25 touchdowns.
