Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) began a single-lane closure on State Route 9 near Kalloch Road (milepost 59) on Monday, Aug. 21, for fish passage construction. The closure will last 42 days until Sept. 14, with alternating traffic controlled by a signal through a bypass road.
WSDOT also announced a new weekday traffic alternating schedule on SR 9 just south of Mount Vernon Big Lake Road (milepost 49) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays through Sept. 3. Both projects aim to improve fish passage at unnamed tributaries of Nookachamp and Hansen Creeks.
Drivers should expect delays in the area during these construction periods.
