WSU Wine Industry Partnership Marks 130 Years

🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

WSU has partnered with Washington's wine industry for over 130 years, dating back to 1825 when grapes were first planted in Washington at Fort Vancouver.

The university's research and education programs have helped cultivate grape varieties suited to the region's climate, with the wine industry now an economic powerhouse. WSU's Cosmic Crisp® apple, developed by the university, has generated over $30 million in licensing revenue since 2019.

WSU's continued research in agriculture, including AI applications in human health, supports Washington's agricultural economy and workforce development.
